Review of Ashley Farley's Home for Wounded Hearts

Home for Wounded HeartsHome for Wounded Hearts by Ashley Farley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The characters in this book are AMAZING! The "home" mentioned in the title is a safe place of peace and recovery for women who have suffered tragedies such as domestic abuse, death of a loved one, or substance abuse. The characters in this book are so real, they could be the reader's best friend or loved one. Although they start off as strangers, the ladies come together to overcome a threatening situation, resulting in a happily ever after. Farley consistently produces stories that speak to the reader's heart and soul and this one is no exception.

The Last DanceThe Last Dance by Aimee Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was so raw and real. I loved it! The Last Dance is a story of love lost through heartbreaking circumstances. Brown's characters are the real deal and the reader will feel the angst of their heartbreak and hope for their reconciliation. Brown was a new-to-me author but I plan to gobble up her other works!

Review of True Places by Sonja Yoerg

True PlacesTrue Places by Sonja Yoerg
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Author, Sonja Yoerg, has such a way with words that the reader falls in love with her characters and settings. This book touched my heart, with its intense family drama, and the story of a lost little girl who knows nothing about the world, having lived off the grid, in the woods, all of her life. I could feel her turmoil and sadness, and the angst of the woman who finds her and is determined to hold onto her. I loved this book!

Review of The Curse of Misty Wayfair by Jaime Jo Wright

The Curse of Misty WayfairThe Curse of Misty Wayfair by Jaime Jo Wright
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I consider this to be the best book I've read all year! This book is a creepy and intriguing ghost story with a Gothic feel. Author, Jaime Jo Wright, fabulously twines together a mystery of the past with a story of the present. There is a touch of romance and memorable characters. A message of hope and faith clearly shines through. I found this book to be refreshing in that it is scary without being full of blood and gore. Readers are in for a treat!

Review of The First Noel at the Villa des Violettes by Patricia Sands

The First Noël at the Villa des ViolettesThe First Noël at the Villa des Violettes by Patricia Sands
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reading a Patricia Sands' book is akin to partaking in a delightful feast for the senses. There is so much imagery in The First Noel at the Villa des Violettes that I could see the French countryside, as well as smell the Christmas feast, feel the fluffy fur of pups Rocco and Coco (and Picasso, my favorite!), and practically taste those apricot crepes! This was a lovely story about mingling traditions and culture, and counting friends as family. I'm looking forward to future novellas about the Villa des Violettes!

Review of Just After Midnight by Catherine Ryan Hyde

Just After MidnightJust After Midnight by Catherine Ryan Hyde
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of the best books I have ever read! Catherine Ryan Hyde fantastically captures the relationship between a teenager, Sarah, and her prized horse...a horse the girl's father has sold, leaving Sarah heartbroken. Sarah knows a secret about the death of her mother that puts she and family friend, Faith, on the run. Ryan Hyde is a pro at instilling conflict into this story that will make the reader avidly root for characters they have grown to love.

Review of The Thing About Clare by Imogen Clark

The Thing About ClareThe Thing About Clare by Imogen Clark
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A heartfelt story about the relationships between family members. Clare has always felt like an outsider in her own family (can anyone else relate?). Her mother has recently passed away and given her other daughter, Anne, specific instructions to destroy her will and a letter she had written to Clare. Anne cannot help herself and reads the letter, leaving her in a dilemma about whether or not to tell Clare of its contents. The mystery unfolds, leaving a family in turmoil. I loved this story of complicated relationships and forgiveness.
