The Dark Lake by Sarah Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I received an advance reader's copy of this book in exchange for a truthful review. I loved this book! It is a skillfully crafted murder mystery combined with the tale of a hauntingly sad love story. Readers of Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles mysteries will fast grow to love main character, Gemma, in this novel. This novel is so fast paced that there is no time for becoming bored as you will remain on the edge of your seat!

Review of Tina Ann Forkner's Waking Up Joy
Waking Up Joy by Tina Ann Forkner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was a sweet and humorous book detailing main character, Joy's, time in a coma, and the aftermath. She has an eclectic family whose humorous escapades will keep you chuckling. However, there is an underlying secret that keeps the reader intrigued and anxiously awaiting when it will be revealed. Author, Tina Ann Forkner, does an excellent job hinting about this secret and holding the reader's interest. Of course, no story would be complete without a little romance, and there is a love triangle that will find you rooting for first one man, and then the other. I believe readers will enjoy the author's quick wit and divinely crafted story!

Review of That Last Weekend: A Novel of Suspense by Laura DiSilverio
That Last Weekend: A Novel of Suspense by Laura DiSilverio
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
**I received an advanced reader's copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.**
Think "Pretty Little Liars" television show, but with an adult cast, mixed with Ruth Ware's "In A Dark, Dark, Wood," and you get the gist of this book. I truly enjoyed it, and it kept me entertained and in suspense nearly until the end. The story involves college friends who meet at an old inn ten years after a fateful weekend resulted in tragedy. This time, it ends in murder. Each is a suspect but they must work together to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding one friend's death. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a well-crafted whodunit mystery.

Review of No Place I'd Rather Be by Cathy Lamb
No Place I'd Rather Be by Cathy Lamb
**I received an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for a truthful review.**
Another superb book from author Cathy Lamb! You will laugh; you will cry. The characters are artfully crafted, each with their own unique personality and flavor. Although humorous and quirky at times, this book also flashes back to a grandmother's haunted past due to the the mortifying occurrences of the Nazi invasion of Germany and bombing of England. The past and present are wonderfully blended and will keep the reader intrigued. This book will appeal to mothers, grandmothers, daughters, those who cheer on a son or daughter with Asperger's Syndrome, those hopeful to adopt, foster parents, and anyone who loves a flat-out good read. I hope we will see more from Cathy Lamb in the future!

Review of Tess Gerritsen's I Know A Secret: A Rizzoli & Isles Novel
I Know a Secret by Tess Gerritsen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A fantastic read! I was lucky enough to receive a free advanced reader's copy of this book through NetGalley. This book is about a woman's fight to survive the deranged killer that is picking off fellow childhood friends and acquaintances. Detective Rizzoli fights to stay one step ahead of the killer while pathologist Isles accumulates clues from the dead, all while confronting her feelings for priest, Daniel. Tess Gerritsen does not disappoint! Fans of Rizzoli and Isles, as well as new readers, will find this to be a fast-paced, suspenseful novel with a twist. I highly recommend this book!

Review of Little Broken Things by Nicole Baart
Little Broken Things by Nicole Baart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book is a MUST READ for those who enjoy a good mystery with family drama! Nicole Baart has a true winner with this novel! The characters have many layers that are uncovered the more one reads. There is Quinn, a daughter, wife, and sister, who is questioning her marriage. Nora is the other sister who is wrapped up in protecting her best friend's daughter from the friend's sleazy husband. Nora drops the daughter into Quinn's lap and disappears. Then there is Liz, Nora and Quinn's mother. At first glance, she appears to be meddlesome and a busybody, but readers will grow to love her as the layers of her personality are peeled away. I felt like I knew these characters. They were realistic and well-developed. The story unfolds perfectly. It is fast-paced, and I could not put this book down! Just when you think you know the answers to the family's drama, you realize there is more involved than what meets the eye. I highly recommend this book!

Review of Left to Chance
I received a free advanced reader's copy of Left to Chance by Amy Sue Nathan via NetGalley. This was a lighthearted read that touched on an important issue, that of bullying. I feel that the author could have expanded more on this issue rather than just touching on it. I could not really get invested in the characters, much as I tried. The author surprised me with an unexpected twist that left me disappointed.
